Hello, my name is Melizza Ochoa, and I am a senior at Santa Monica High School. I am a proud first-generation Mexican American and the first generation to go to college. I am proud to say that I have been part of the immersion program since I was in preschool. Because of the immersion program and living in a primarily Spanish speaking household, I am fluent in both English and Spanish. Over the course of my life, I have seen how my cousins build houses from the ground up. Because of that, I have always been interested in the design and logistics of building a house or structure. My goal is to study Civil Engineering to have a job that deals with these topics. My goal for the capstone project is to educate and improve the lives of people on whatever topic the group chooses.
